Post-renovation cleaning: what it includes and when to book it
Why mopping the floors is not enough after a renovation, what stages the work is made of and when to call the team in so that you do not pay for cleaning twice.
Post-renovation cleaning removes construction dust and the traces of finishing work in two passes: first a dry collection of dust from every surface with an industrial vacuum, then wet cleaning and a final pass. The reverse order leaves streaks: a wet cloth turns abrasive dust into dirt and grinds it into the fresh finish.
Why it takes exactly two passes
Construction dust is not household dust but a fine abrasive suspension of cement, plaster and filler. In contact with water it sets and leaves marks that afterwards only come off mechanically. That is why the dry stage is compulsory and comes first.
- First pass: an industrial vacuum over every surface, from the top down
- Second pass: wet cleaning and treatment with products
- The finish: glass, mirrors, polished surfaces
- Dust settles again between the passes — the order of work allows for that
The full scope of work
This is the standard volume for an apartment after finishing work. If the renovation was partial, the volume and the floor area are recalculated.
- Dry collection of construction dust from every surface, radiators and ventilation included
- Protective film removed from windows, sills, doors, radiators and appliances
- Expanding foam, glue, filler, primer and masking tape residue taken off
- Walls washed where the finish allows it
- Bathroom and kitchen: fixtures, tiles, cabinet fronts, cement residue
- A final wash of windows, glass and mirrors
- Small debris bagged and carried to the bin
What the service does not include
It is better to know where the line runs in advance — these are the jobs that need different equipment and different clearance.
- Taking heavy waste to a landfill: tiles, plasterboard, dismantled structures
- Demolition work of any kind
- Dry cleaning of carpets and upholstery — a separate service
- Fixing defects in the finish: touching up paint, filling, adjusting
When to call the team in
The timing matters more than it seems: calling on the wrong day means paying for a second cleaning out of your own pocket.
- After all the wet work is finished and the heavy waste has been removed
- Before furniture and appliances arrive — an empty apartment goes faster
- Before curtains and textiles go up: they collect the remaining dust
- Closer to your move-in date, if more than a week separates it from the finishing work
What it costs and how long it takes
Priced by area: ₴189 per m², minimum order ₴5990. The rate is above deep cleaning because of the two passes, the product use and the wear on equipment — abrasive dust kills filters and attachments faster than any household dirt.
- ₴189 per square metre, minimum ₴5990 per visit
- A two-room apartment of about 60 m² — normally a full working day for the team
- Same-day booking — plus 15%
- Window cleaning after a renovation is charged separately — ₴99 per m² of glazing
